Training of Adult Dogs

I can work with you to train your mature dog.

Before starting one-to-one training sessions,  we will engage in a detailed discussion to find out exactly what the problem is and how to go about fixing it. You and your dog are operating in a complex  behavioural “system”. It would be unfair to simply to try to “cure” problematic symptoms without looking at how the problem came about in the first place.

Let me give an example. In all probability,  a dog repeatedly not coming when called does not regard you as the person authorized to tell him what to do. He may well acknowledge you as his best friend, but not as someone having the right to channel his behaviour. In his view, you are not his point of reference. This authority, however, can be bought neither with goodies nor with constant signs of affection, and certainly not with brute force. It is an often emotional process including “social friction” and setting up a framework of dos and don’ts that make sense for you and your dog.
